Our Mission

Our History

On April 20, 1822, twenty-four members of the United Baptist Church at Stony Point in Logan County chose to expand their witness for the gospel by leaving their home congregation and launching a new church. The group gathered together under a massive oak tree located on a farm a mile east of Lewisburg and gave birth to a new congregation, Mt. Pleasant. Over the years the church worshiped together in at least four locations. In 1914 the Mt. Pleasant congregation joined with the Lewisburg Baptist Church, and the two congregations elected to be identified as Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. In 1917, a new building was constructed at the present location, 954 Stacker Street, in Lewisburg, and weekly services have been continuously held since that time.

Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church and is a part of the Logan Todd Baptist Association and the Kentucky Baptist Convention.
